I will most likely vote for Obama since I am scared to death of what the GOP would do if it had power again, after seeing what they did with banks from '94 to 2006. But if I truly thought he had a shot I would vote for Johnson. I love what he says and I love that he has some IDEAS. Of which I haven't heard one from Obama in a while and have never heard one from Romney.
I thought it was hilarious that the Dems lost power in 2010 and they said it was because they supported Obama care and the GOP said it was because they were growing government and debt and rejecting liberal ideals. Funny since they did almost nothing Liberal, and the Dems were wrong too. Remember both the Tea Party (before it got commandered by nutcases like Palin, Cantor, and Bachmann) and OWS STARTED for the same reason. Bailouts with no legitimacy. Give any citizen $500,000,000,000 at less than %1. Take that money and invest it in any low risk investment. CD, Savings Bonds, savings account, whatever. And don't touch it the whole year. At the end you will have enough money for the rest of your life after paying back the principle and interest. This is what the government did for the banks. Free money, just to flow credit and collect usury. Just keep gouging the public at large, while also filling the coffers of the FED's owners accounts and everything will be fine. Meanwhile let's combine all the big boys so no competition is ever possible and raise barriers of entry in every other sector of the economy so we can control them too.
Think about it, pretty soon you will either have a family rich enough to live off others, or you will be in debt from birth to death. Home, education, starting a business (more likely than not), healthcare, death. Most people will own nothing but owe on everything, forever. Its the road we are heading down and Romney and Obama are both corporatists. They will support the banks over everyone else, while allowing companies like GE and AIG to put their tentacles into everything and to maximize profits, put everything on credit so inventory can always be minimum, and if another crisis happens, the FED will buy up more of America just like the last time.
The system is broken. We only have regulations left that hurt small businesses and their ability to compete. Our government has sold us to the highest bidders long ago because we stopped voting and let them get us to bicker over things that mean absolutely nothing (Gay marriage is going to affect your life? Really?) Meanwhile the FED is still private and literally the ONLY reason our country is in debt, taxes have been lowered to insane rates for a interconnect modern society, and critical social services are getting squeezed while oppressive powers go up. We have little chance if we don't wake up. Little chance at a great society. Show me a politician with the sack to say Close the FED, heavily regulate financial firms and massive multi national companies (if you don't you have no hope of avoiding another killer collapse and the next time it won't be a choice of bailing out), raise taxes substantially on the top .005% people and businesses. Force them to save money by reinvesting in development and human capital. Upgrade and enforce anti trust legislation, including sports, media and food, and raw goods. AND repeal the Patriot Act, and NDAA and every other restriction on people. Finally pass a new amendment that is one sentence: "An American citizen has the right to pursue happiness as long as doing so does not infringe on the right of another American citizen to pursue theirs". Yeah, I know lawyers would abuse the hell out of it. But it would be good to give that creed notice, since what the politicians and bankers are doing is trying to stand in the way of that. So we will stop pursuing happiness. So we will stop wanting anything other than what we are told to want.
Do we even have the resolve in our people to accomplish any of this? Yes, it's there, but how to get everyone's attention, I really don't know.
